Congratulations on a great silver medal for Aidan Gillespie in Tullamore at the National Combined Events Championships of Ireland last weekend.
Aidan was competing in the Masters 35+ category, a demanding schedule of five events in one afternoon. He was 2nd in the Hurdles, 1st in Long Jump, 1st in Shot Putt, 1st in High Jump and put in a gallant effort in his least favourite event the 1500m and finished a mere 4 points of the Gold medal.
It’s back on the track this weekend for Aidan at the Track and Field Master Individual Championships in Tullamore. So Good luck to him.
There were five Rosses athletes that completed the Danny McDaid 15k today in Letterkenny on Sunday last which is the longest race in the Donegal Grand Prix series.
Noel Diver was first Rosses athlete home and 13th overall in an impressive time of 56:28. Michael Logue – 59:20. Paul McGee – 68:29. Sadie McDevitt – 78:11 and Lorna O’Donnell – 94:04.
Well done to both Eamon O’Donnell who had a great run in the Maghery 5k to come home in first place and Denis Bonner continuing his good form to come in 3rd.
Well done to Noel Diver who finished second in the Glenties 5k in a time of 17:37 with Eamon O’Donnell 4th and Marie Timoney first lady home in 21:07.
Well done to Burtonport native Garda Michael Mc Elroy who competed in the World Police Games recently.
Michael competed in the 5K Cross Country event at the Stormont Estate and finished in a very respectable 48th place out of 123 runners from all over the world in a time of 20:50.
Well done to Helen Mc Cready who finished 5th Female in the UNICEF Mini Marathon in Vilamoura, Portugal recently. You never know what event or where Helen will show up.
