Fanad-based media mogul John McAteer has denied claims that RTE broadcaster Sean O’Rourke is to take over the Tirconail Tribune.
The well-known broadcaster has been appointed Pat Kenny’s replacement on the national broadcaster’s morning flagship programme.
However O’Rourke said his ultimate aim is to retire to take over at the Milford-based Tribune.
The broadcaster has a holiday home in Downings and spends a lot of time there.
But McAteer, who is understood to have a number of media interests, has denied he is going anywhere.
Reports that McAteer has also been approached by RTE because of his distinct Fanad accent could not be confirmed.
McAteer and his publication is already known around the globe after the publication of the best-selling novel No News at Throat Lake.
The book, written by former pop star Laurence Donegan, was set in the hi-tech offices of the Tribune in Milford.
