2013 will be the sixth year of the Dunfanaghy Jazz and Blues Festival and it is lining up to be bigger and better than ever, with 14 venues in the village hosting 48 artists and bands.
The Festival has huge local support with Fintan Moloney as the main sponsor and support from local businesses both through Fundraising and advertising in the annual brochure and website.
The Festival is organised by a voluntary committee, Donald Craig and Sian McCann who are also looking forward to an excellent weekend of first class Jazz and Blues music.
2012 saw the first “Party on The Beach” organised by the Waves of Change project, as visitors and locals battled to break the World Record to build the most sandcastles in one hour, which they did with an amazing 1,939.
If anyone missed the fun or anyone would like to have a memento of the day there is a short DVD on sale of the event in The Workhouse for €3.00 with proceeds going to the Community Playground.
The information kiosk will be in the square again this year to provide information on the festival and the Sheephaven Bay area. It will have information on other events happening during the year and you might be able to find another great excuse to return to the picturesque seaside village of Dunfanaghy.
This Festival is definitely one to add to your calendar as it is set in the picturesque seaside village of Dunfanaghy with great bars and restaurants and a fantastic line up of local, national and international bands.
Ask anyone who has been there and they will tell you that you’ll return again and again.
