He may not have captured back-to-back All-Irelands but Jim McGuinness is celebrating on the double.

The McGuinness family has grown bigger.

The McGuinness family has grown bigger.

The Donegal GAA boss was relieved after wife Yvonne gave birth to two bouncing baby girls.

The girls arrived at Letterkenny General Hospital on Friday evening.

Both new-born babies are said to be doing fine as is their solicitor mum Yvonne.

It is not known yet what the couple have decided to call their new arrivals although it is understood they are considering naming them Bonnie and Aoibh.

A friend said “Everyone is doing fine. There’s always a worry with a new baby arriving and that is doubled when you are expecting twins.

“Thankfully everything went to plan and they now have two new lovely girls to add to their family.”

The new arrivals means the young couple now have five young children – two boys and three girls.

It’s certainly promises to be a busy household at the couples’ home in Portnoo.

It will especially be busy for Yvonne with husband Jim working with Glasgow Celtic FC in Scotland up to four days a week.

He has spoken before about how the couple could not have coped without the help of their family.

McGuinness, from Glenties, has still to confirm if he is to continue on as Donegal boss after they were beaten by Mayo in the All-Ireland quarter final.

The Donegal manager, who lost two brothers, Charles and Mark, says the loss puts family into perspective over sport.

“I think it does make you stronger on one level – it also leaves you slightly vulnerable for the rest of your life.

“The one positive I would say would be that it gives you a really, really strong perspective on your own life.

“For me there’s nothing more important in my life than my family and my children.

“That in many respects comes from the fact that I know what loss is and how much it can impact a family so every moment with my wife and children is very precious to me ” he said.
