Ramelton native Barry McNamee will be hoping he can get some action in tonight’s crunch UEFA U21 qualifier between the Republic Of Ireland and Germany in Sligo.
McNamee was capped at this level in May in a friendly against Denmark and was an unused sub for the last qualifier in the Faroe Islands.
He was initially on stand-by for this squad but received a late call-up after another player withdrew from the squad due to injury.
Noel King has expressed before that he rates the Derry City midfielder highly and believes he has a bright future in the game.
McNamee has enjoyed a fine season for Derry City and last year helped them to win the FAI Cup against St.Patrick’s Athletic last season.
Ireland face a stiff challenge tonight against a World class opponent in Germany.
The match is being played tonight at the Showgrounds in Sligo with Kick-off at 7.45pm.
