DONEGAL FANS BUZZING THAT JIMMY’S STAYING TO WIN MATCHES IN 2014

There has been widespread joy and relief across the county since Saturday when it was confirmed that Jim McGuinness was staying on as Donegal manager with fans taking to Facebook and Twitter to express their joy at McGuinness’s decision to stay.

There had been speculation on-going for weeks as to whether or not McGuinness would stay on in charge of the Donegal senior football team, but it was confirmed on Saturday by county chairman Sean Dunnion that McGuinness would be manger for the 2014 campaign.

Fans across the county drew a huge sigh of relief with the news on Saturday with many predicting it won’t be long before Donegal are reaching the dizzy heights of 2012 again.

Fans posted several messages of support on Facebook, “Absolutely buzzing Jimmy is staying on. His commitment to Donegal is unreal, many people would have been happy with their lot and just walked away with all he’s achieved already, but not McGuinness he won’t leave Donegal until Sam is back in the hills.

One wrote: ” Great news, absolutely great news, the great man from Glenties is staying on and is going to take us back to the promised land! Last year was just a mere blip we weren’t operating at 100% and we still nearly won another Ulster title, the boys will be fresh for another assault on Sam in 2014. #Buzzing

Another wrote: ” So Jimmy will be back winning matches in 2014 then so!! Great news he has the backing of the county board and the clubs, and with the championship suspended he can now properly prepare his team to win another All-Ireland. I have a feeling next year will be another great year for Donegal GAA. #TirchonaillABU

McGuinness’s main bone of contention was with the club championship fixtures, he pointed out that Donegal players were involved in either club or county championship for 9 out of the 11 weekends before there All-Ireland quarter-final against Mayo.

With the news now confirmed McGuinness will be already making preparations for the 2014 season as he looks to re-capture the Anglo Celt and the Sam Maguire.
