The Donegal man who holds the sheep shearing world record made a special appearance yesterday at the National Ploughing Championships.
Letterkenny man Ivan Scott (32) has led the flock in sheep shearing competitions since he moved to New Zealand and earned his first world record in the skill.
Scott shore 736 lambs in eight hours in 2008. He claimed the title again in 2011 with 744 clippings.
Training for such a title takes shear determination. Ivan would shear for nine hours a day, followed by weight lifting or rowing in the gym along with running for fitness, he told agriland.ie.
Scott shares his time between Ireland, New Zealand and Switzerland. Ivan is captain of the Irish team for the World Sheep Shearing Competition next year. Training has already begun in the hopes of bleating the competition.
