A young Lifford woman has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to a leading university.
Lucy Costello from Ballindrait has been awarded the Dr H.H. Stewart Scholarship in Irish Literature.
She was presented with her award in a lavish ceremony on Tuesday 12th November in The Great Hall, Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin.
The scholarship of €1000, a medal and certificate was awarded based on her results of First Arts Examinations in N.U.I. Galway, and was presented by the Chancellor of the University, Dr Maurice Manning. Over 100 students and graduates qualified for N.U.I.
Awards this year and were judged as being outstanding among their peers across the N.U.I. institutions. Since its foundation, the University promotes learning, research and scholarship at the highest levels and acknowledges the achievements of its most outstanding scholars.
Lucy is currently in her second year of a four year BA (Irish & History) with Creative Writing at N.U.I. Galway.
