Local Independent election candidate Micheál Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig has announced that he will officially open his new public office in Dungloe on Saturday 16th November.
The opening will be performed by Brigid O’Donnell, living in Dungloe, but originally from Annagry.
“This week we held a meeting of the campaign team which has come together to support my bid to win a County Council seat.
“We want people to be aware that we are mounting a serious challenge to the political party machines.
The opening of a public office is a sign of how seriously we are taking this. We want to be available to the public so that they can come and raise their issues that concern them and get support and advice.
The office will be available as a community space to anyone who needs it. Any local groups who need a meeting place will be very welcome to use it at no cost.”
Since I announced my intention to run, I have been impressed by the number of people who have come forward offering support, seeing a need for an alternative to the cosy consensus in Lifford.
“My intention is to bring a new approach to local politics, one based on radical community activism.
“To do that we need to be available and accessible to the community and that is why we have seen it as essential that we have a public office where we can meet people face to face.
“We have drawn up an action plan to get our campaign up and running. In the coming weeks we will begin going into local areas with a newsletter to let people know what we are about.
“I would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come to the official opening of the new office to see what we have done so far and hear what our plans are for the future. All are very welcome.”
The new office at 3 Gweedore Road, Dungloe will be officially opened at 1pm tomorrow on the 16th of November.
