Newly installed Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan has wasted no time in securing the signatures of two of the club’s most experienced players in the form of Kevin McHugh and Michael Funston.
McHugh is the current club captain and is a legend at the club after a glittering career in the League of Ireland with Finn Harps.
He is currently placed fifth in the all-time list of League of Ireland goal-scorers.
At 33 McHugh is coming to the latter stages of his career but his impact on the pitch has not been diminished by age and his form will be crucial if Ollie Horgan’s Finn Harps side are to challenge for promotion.
The versatile Michael Funston has also been re-signed, the energetic midfielder enjoyed a fantastic season last year and Horgan will be hoping he can continue his form in the forthcoming 2014 season.
It is a positive announcement to secure the signatures of two vital players so soon into his tenure as manager.
It is expected that several more of last season’s squad will commit for the 2014 season in the next coming weeks.
Speculation is rife that Horgan is lining up a swoop for former Harps players Sean Houston who is currently tied to Derry City.
While it has been rumoured that Horgan is interested in Donegal Town native and Sligo Rovers striker Liam Martin.
