DDTV: DONEGAL’S All-Ireland winning manager Jim McGuinness has delivered an awe-inspiring speech to adult learners in Letterkenny today – urging his audience to follow their dreams.
Mr McGuinness was the special guest of the Donegal VEC at the event at the Mount Errigal Hotel.
The Glenties man left school at 15 when he failed eight of his nine exams at Junior Cert.
But urged on by his family, he returned to education when he was 23 – and went on to get a degree and a masters in sports-related academic courses.
In this 40-minute speech he speaks about the good times and the bad times at primary school, overcoming his own fears about education and the people who inspire him.
He talks about meeting Roy Keane and discussing Donegal’s All-Ireland win; and how he found new insights into people by reading about Mother Theresa.
