Carl McHughDONEGAL’S Carl McHugh has capped an incredible week in his football career after being called into the Ireland U-21 squad.

The Lettermacaward man was making all the headlines this week as he helped Bradford City knock Aston Villa out of the League Cup – booking a place at Wembey against Swansea next month.

Carl celebrated the game by wearing the Donegal GAA flag at Villa Park.

He has now been given a call up to Noel King’s U21 Ireland squad.

“I was at Bradford’s cup ties against Wigan and Villa and Carl was excellent in both. He’s a fiercely competitive defender,” said King, the former Derry City boss and player.

Kick-off at Tallaght Stadium is at 1pm on Wednesday, 6 February, with free entry for those who have bought tickets to the senior friendly against Poland in the Aviva Stadium later that evening.
