Hi all,
Wednesday was such a great day!
It started at 9 in the morning up at Optimal Fitness where I was scheduled to train with Michael.
We began with quad exercises, followed closely with bicep/tricep work. Then it was on to core exercises with a bit of boxing thrown in for good measure.
After a brief stint on the bike, we finished with my beloved TRX. If you are yet to explore the world that is TRX training then I would recommend you try it soon.
While enjoyable, it is also a great form of exercise.
After training we made our way down to Carrigart as I had a date with some diving gear and a swimming pool.
We arrived shortly before 11am where we were met by owner and instructor, Donald Cullen.
After a brief introduction we made our way through to the training area where we got the legal stuff out of the way; medical forms and disclaimers etc.
Then it was time to learn:) Donald patiently explained everything we would need to know for our time in the pool. I must say I found it very interesting.
The way our bodies react to water pressure is pretty cool! Ear popping, lung expansion. Sure it’s mighty:)
Once we changed into our swimming costumes it was time to suit up.
As the diving equipment is quite heavy, they had us sit on the edge of the pool first as I most definitely would have toppled over otherwise.
The first thing they had us do was practice breathing under water(very strange experience at first!) After that it was just make like Nemo and swim:)
The experience was definitely one I wish to repeat and luckily for me I will get that opportunity next year when the sea warms up a bit.
Stage two of this challenge will take place then and I cannot wait. Commercial diver, David McGloin accompanied us on Wednesday and he will be taking us for the second stage of the challenge. He is a very experienced diver with a HUGE amount of knowledge.
A massive thanks to Donald, David and Michael for a great day out:)
