Micheal Murphy will be given a Civic Reception by the Donegal County Council for his outstanding achievements this season for Club and Country.
Murphy captained the Irish International Rules team to a record victory over Australia in a very one-sided test series that was held in October.
He produced a stunning performance in the first test at Breffini Park and then just 24 hours later he inspired Glenswilly to their second ever Donegal SFC title over Kilybegs.
He then led Glenswilly to Ulster SFC victories over St. Gall’s and Roslea before the men from Foxhall were defeated by a very strong and experienced Ballinderry side.
The Civic Receptin for Murphy will be held this Monday the 16th of December at 3pm in the Council Chamber in the County House in Lifford.
The ceremony has been arranged in recognition of his sporting achievements and in particular his captaincy of the Irish International Rules side.
Murphy will be welcomed by the Mayor of Donegal Clr Ian McGarvey and will then be addressed by County Manager Seamus Neely.
A representative of each political party will then pay tribute to Murphy.
