The new Finn Harps Stadium which has suffered several set-backs over the years as a result of various legal factors and the economic downturn has seen significant development over the last few months which is expected to continue in 2014.
The news will come as a great boost to Harps fans who have no doubt been frustrated over the continued stalled process of the development over the years.
However with significant work now already in place on the new stadium and with it expected to continue in 2014 it’s a huge positive for all associated with Harps.
It’s exciting times at Harps, with a new manager appointed there is an air of optimism around for the season ahead, and with steady progress being made on the new stadium project it could be a very good year for the loyal Harps faithful.
Club secretary John Campbell told the official Finn Harps website, “We have done a lot of work on the ground in the last three months or so.
“The ground has been fenced off and all the filling has been done and we are now ready to see significant progress in the first three to four months of next year.
“We’ve had discussions with the builder in recent weeks and I expect to see work begin on the next phase, which is the stand and club-rooms, early in 2014.
The stadium will incorporate stands covered seats, an administration building, modern dressing rooms and all facilities required by UEFA Licensing.
An additional junior football pitch is also being provided.
The stadium is situated close to the Finn Valley Leisure Complex and is just across the River Finn from the club’s current home, Finn Park.
