DONEGAL County Council and Gardai have issued a warning to motorists this morning following a fall in temperatures overnight.
Gritters have treated major routes across the county but rural and secondary roads have not been – and there are reports of ice on many of these, especially inland.
And there is a warning of wintry showers – some of them heavy – later this morning with higher ground due to be the worst affected.
However snow may fall at lower levels later in the day.
There will also be very strong winds – with gusts of up to 115km/hr.
These have the potential to knock down power lines.
The blustery weather is set to continue right through Christmas.
