Daniel O’Donnell has slammed bogus collectors for pretending to be him and collecting money for the fight against coronavirus.

A spokesperson for the singer’s Facebook account hit out at those behind fake accounts.

The message said they are aware of a number of scams on social media asking people to donate money.

It is understood that unsuspecting fans have already donated to the accounts not realising they are bogus.

The spokesperson said Daniel will never ask for money for any charity through his personal online forums.

The post said “Everyone, please be aware of online social media fraudsters impersonating Daniel trying to get fans to donate large sums of money to help in the fight against this COVID 19 virus.

“One in particular, is on Instagram at the moment. Please note the Daniel will never, ever ask fans to donate money to any cause on social media or otherwise.

“Please also be aware that Daniel does not communicate directly with fans on Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram or any social media website or forum.

“Please spread the word and stay safe at home and online.”

Daniel and wife Majella have been keeping in touch with fans through video messages from their home in Kincasslagh.
