Covid-19: Another 25 deaths and 343 new cases today

A further 25 people with Covid-19 have died in Ireland within the past 24 hours.

The Department of Health says there have now been a total of 1,286 coronavirus related deaths in Ireland.

Another 343 new positive cases were also reported, bringing the total to 21,176 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.

Today’s data from the HPSC, as of midnight, Thursday April 30, reveals that 58 per cent of cases are female and 42 per cent are male

The median age of confirmed cases is 49 years with 2,785 cases, of 13% having been hospitalised and of those, 368 cases have been admitted to ICU.

Around 5,973 of the cases are associated with healthcare workers.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 10,277, 50 per cent of all cases.

Of those for whom transmission status is known, community transmission accounts for 63 per cent, close contact accounts for 34% and travel abroad accounts for 3 per cent.
