A huge crowd turned up at the Chapel of Eternal Rest for the removal ceremony of Jody and Anngeline Brogan.

The beautiful sisters, aged 27 ad 28, were both killed in a housefire at their home in Cannon View, Mountain Top yesterday morning.

Gardai gave the hearses carrying both coffins an escort through the town this afternoon following the removal mass.

Roads were blocked off and people stopped and blessed themselves as the funeral cortege left the chapel adjacent to Letterkenny General Hospital.

The sisters will be buried together following funeral mass on Monday at St Columbus Church in Drumoghill at 11am in the adjoining cemetery.

The girls’ remains were taken to the home of their mother Mary in Lisnennan, Letterkenny where they will be waked until Monday’s funeral mass.

Meanwhile an investigation into the cause of the fire at the two storey semi-detached house is still ongoing.

The house was boarded today while family and friends had placed a number of bouquets of flowers outside the scene of the blaze.

Messages of comfort and support continued to come in on social media sites for the two young women who were very well-known in the town.

A spokesman for the family said that the only commented they wanted to make was that both girls will be sadly missed by family and friends.

The family have asked for only immediate family to send flowers but all donations can be made to the Irish Wheelchair Association.
