In the Ulster Senior Cross Country Championships held on Saturday in conjunction with the IAAF Cross Grand Prix meeting Gerard Gallagher was the best of the Finn Valley competitors.
Gallagher finished 6th just ahead of the lead City Of Derry athlete Declan Reid whose club won the team title.
James Speight 10th and Pauric Mc KInney 12th the next best from Donegal on what was a poor day overall for the county.
For the record Paul Pollock Annadale is the new Ulster champ from Stephen Scullion and Gary Murray 3rd Best of the Valley in the womens event Kay Byrne 10th with her teamate Donna Evans 11th.
Eimear Mullan ,Springwell won the title with North Belfast team winners.
This event in years past engendered great interest from the Donegal clubs but not on this occasion.
It was an excellent promotion hosted by Athletics NI at Greenmount, Antrim.
Training at Valley is back in full swing Tuesday evening with a journey to Athlone IT next weekend for the combined events nationals Aine Kerr and Arlene Crossan involved and coach Shauna Carlin certainly maintained the focus over the holiday period which needless to relate was essential.
Indoor ,cross country and Finn Valley 5k Spring Series on the road are up ahead in the weeks /months ahead.
