Donegal will be hoping they can put the disappointment of last weekend’s defeat to Tyrone behind them and bounce back against Armagh on Sunday.
Donegal were excellent in the first half against Tyrone last Sunday with Michael Murphy particularly impressive.
They fatigued badly in the second half as the hard training the side have been doing recently began to take it’s toll with the experimental Tyrone outfit taking control.
It will be very much as you were for this Sunday’s match against the Orchard county.
Marty O’Reilly will miss out after suffering concussion in that match against Tyrone having spent Sunday night in hospital.
With the Donegal squad already ravaged with injuries to their more senior players, the absence of O’Reilly could provide an opportunity for one of the fringe players to stake a claim .
Armagh defeated Queen’s University last Sunday and produced an assured and controlled performance from start to finish.
They racked up a tally of 1-17 against the students of Queen’s who were captained by Donegal and St.Michael’s clubman Martin McElhinney.
A positive from Donegal’s point of view is the fact the Armagh defence leaked 0-15 to the students.
Jim McGuinness was pleased with aspects of Donegal’s first competitive performance of 2014 and will be hoping getting competitive game time under his players belt will produce a better perfromance over the full 70 minutes this Sunday.
Armagh host Donegal at the Athletic grounds this Sunday with a throw in time of 2pm.
