Donegal take on the students of Queen’s University tonight hoping a comprehensive victory will be enough to see them advance to the semi-finals of the Dr McKenna cup.
Donegal recorded an excellent two point victory over a plucky Armagh side on Sunday and were boosted by the return of key men Neil McGee and Neil Gallagher who both made appearances from the bench.
Karl Lacey also returned on Sunday and he along with Gallagher and McGee are expected to start tonight’s game against Queen’s at Mac Cumhaill park. (8pm throw-in)
Donegal player Martin McElhinney will captain the Queen’s side who have used the Dr McKenna cup as preparation for the prestigious Sigerson Cup which takes place next month.
Tyrone host Armagh in the other game and with four points already secured as well as a healthy scoring difference even a defeat should still see Tyrone progress.
With Queen’s already out of the competition it’s between Armagh and Donegal for second spot in the group.
Donegal will be hoping to record a comfortable victory over Queen’s to advance to the semi-finals of the competition which take place at the Athletic grounds on Sunday.
