Hi Guys, I hope you have all had a good week. Did you see the five minutes of snow we had on Tuesday?? I managed to make the world’s smallest snowball and decided to throw it at my dad. I missed by about a foot and a half but sure it was the thought that counts
This week was the second of my five day training programme.
We are finding a nice little routine for each session which is encouraging. I met with my physiotherapist Lorraine Boyce along with Michael last Friday to devise a plan of action for the coming months.
I am satisfied that, with this new plan in place, I should be able to move forward with ease. Provided my hip behaves itself that is.
Michael and myself met with Denis Ferry on Monday evening to discuss my next challenge.
Denis owns Ferry’s Garage on the mountain top and contacted me before Christmas with an idea he wanted to run by me.
That idea is getting dangerously close to becoming a reality which both terrifies and excites me.
Denis owns a Suburu Impreza and it certainly is ‘Imprezzive’.
Sorry, my jokes are just awful. The plan is for me to take part in All Trak which is a small rally in Northern Ireland.
It is slightly different to a conventional rally in that ordinary Joes like myself can take part. It isn’t on open roads either which is good news for both me and you!
I haven’t driven in over two years because of my hip so regular driving could be considered a bit of a challenge for me never mind driving a big powerful Suburu!
I am so excited though it will be great.
Denis even suggested putting my name on the car along with my campaign name which is extremely nice of him.
I must say he is one of the most generous men I have ever met. For someone to let ME drive such an expensive car and not worry if I damage it.. you don’t see that every day.
I want to say a huge thank you to him for this opportunity. So to reiterate what I just said, I’m going to have my name on a car! Awesome!
I will keep you posted on this story.
This week I attended some workshops as it has been suggested to me that motivational speaking might be a good avenue for me to explore.
I spoke at two separate events in Wicklow before Christmas and loved it. Don’t get me wrong, I was petrified and my hands were practically vibrating they were shaking that much but it was a fantastic experience.
Last night I attended the JCI Launch in the Radisson Hotel. It had a great turn out which is very positive for Donegal.
I would recommend you look into it further as it is not just for business people as you might assume.
It is an organisation based on positivity and hard work, community based projects are also high on their agenda which is fantastic.
I cannot wait to sign up as it will help me with my goal to become a public speaker. And lastly,Have you ever hear of Tough Mudder?
Google it.. Lorraine (my physiotherapist) has decided she is going to compete in it this year which is brilliant.
This got me thinking. Although I cannot take part in the event due to my hip, there is nothing stopping me from training with her for it.
It will be hard work as my regular training will still go ahead but I think it would make for an interesting challenge. Watch this space:)Nikki xxx
