Former Manchester United trainee Joe Coll is currently on trial with Finn Harps with a view to securing a move for the forthcoming 2014 First Division campaign.

Joe Coll is on trial at Finn Harps.

Coll was released by Manchester United in 2012 and had trials with several clubs in both England and Scotland, however he failed to land a contract with any club cross-channel and returned home.

He signed for Derry City last season but was unable to force his way into the plans of Declan Devine and struggled to get any first team opportunities.

He left Derry and signed for hometown club Glenea United.

Coll’s career had stalled but it has rose to prominence once more following the late withdrawal of Gabriel Sava from the Ireland FIFPRO team.

Coll was called in as emergency back-up for the four team tournament held in Oslo, Norway.

Coll had a stunning tournament in which he was awarded as being Ireland’s player of the tournament as he made a number of wonderful saves against Finland and Sweden.

Since then Coll has been on the radar of a number of League of Ireland clubs following his impressive displays in Oslo.

It has been well documented that Ollie Horgan has been looking for a keeper and he has decided to bring Coll on trial with Harps.

He trained with the Finn Harps squad last night and it is expected he will travel to Galway with the rest of the Finn Harps squad tomorrow.

Finn Harps play Westport tomorrow at 3.30pm and then play Cork City on Sunday.
