Dunfanaghy Golf Club Notes

The weather was not kind to golfers again this weekend. The weather improved on Sunday and there were a good few golfers out playing on Sunday for the Spring Cup. GOLF LOGO

Well done to Rodger. I could be wrong but I think this is the second year in a row that Rodger has won this competition.

No doubt his duels with James Brogan during the week are paying off. There was a great crowd on the course on Wednesday last.

Well done to Charles Roarty and all the prize winners.

Charles is certainly playing great golf at the moment and will push to go to single figures this year.

Ryder Cup Qualifier:

The winners for the month of January had a great score of 88pts and they are as follows:

• Peadar Curran, Cornie Mc Mullan, Kevin Boyle, Jimmy Keenan

There is only four months left to book your place in the grand final for this four person team event.

Play any day, 2 scores to count at each hole and highest score each month qualify for final.

Don’t leave it to the last moment to try and qualify.

Our Friday evenings in the clubhouse are going very well with a good crowd dropping into the clubhouse on Friday last.

There are free bites for everyone who come to the club-house on Friday evenings. Be sure to bring your friends along from 4pm onwards.

There is a private function in the clubhouse this Friday from 7pm onwards.

It is great to see that the clubhouse is been utilised to create extra funds for the running of the course.

I would appeal to all members to pay their membership as soon as possible.

This will enable our Hon. Treasurer to plan the finances of the club for the year ahead.

Mary is in the clubhouse Monday to Friday 9am to 12 mid-day.

Competitions this week:

From the 1st of February all balls landing on the fairway will have a lift, clean and drop in the semi-rough until further notice.

This is to ensure the fairways are in excellent conditions for the summer months.

Fixtures;

Wednesday : 5thFebruary Open Single’s Stableford (Soup & Sandwiches)

Saturday 8th February: Open 4BBB competition

Sunday 9thFebruary: Gents club competition

Don’t forget there are prizes for nines and a prize for over 19 handicap in all singles competitions at the club.

Because the monthly medal was missed during January there will be two monthly medals in February and they will be run on the 16th and 23rd of February 2014.

I can also confirm that the club diaries should be ready for collection next week as all dates are pencilled in for the rest of the year.
