Finn Valley AC athletes were in excellent form at the Magherafelt Ulster indoor underage championships which were held over the weekend.
During two days of events the large Finn Valley contingent came through with flying colours with many medals.
Finn Valley collected a total haul of 48 medals, 26 gold,15 silver and 7 bronze.
Tremendous performances coming in relays, high and long jump, shot putt, 60m, 600/800m, walk, triple jump and the hurdles.
It was a very encouraging return and when we add a further eight athletes that didn’t need to travel some of whom will medal Nationally we are now in a very progressive phase of development.
The litmus test is Nationals and the Magherafelt outcome is that 62 athletes are involved there hence the feeling of satisfaction at this early stage of the year.
Certainly as a club we would like to produce more walkers and begin to develope pole vault but that will come.
A big thank you to coaches, parents and of course the athletes themselves who responded so energetically to the event.
This weekend in addition to the National Senior Championships at Athlone we have Sommer Lecky and Blaithnaid competing in Glasgow at Scottish championships.
Finally congrats is extended to club official Shaun Gallagher and his new wife Amanda married last Friday in Laghey .
