Finn Harps have been drawn against USL champions Cockhill Celtic following the draw for the first round of the EA sports cup that was made earlier this afternoon.
The game has been scheduled to be played on Monday the 10th of March at Finn Park.
Harps kick off their First Division campaign just three days before that meeting with Cockhill when they welcome Waterford United to Finn Park on Friday March the 7th.
The match will be a difficult tie for Harps as Cockhill are a hugely experienced outfit and have a number of former Harps players on their books.
Goalkeeper Gavin Cullen was linked with a move back to Harps in January but that move failed to materialize as Cullen opted to commit himself to another season with Cockhill.
Other former Harps players in the ranks at Cockhill are Johnny Havlin, Garbhan Friel, Mark Moran and Gerry Gill.
Harps are in pre-season action against Sligo Rovers on Saturday at Finn Park.
However, it has been suggested due to the recent and on-going adverse weather conditions that the game could well be reversed to the Showgrounds.
