Ulster Inter-Provincial manager Joe Kernan has named five Donegal players in his Ulster squad for the clash against Leinster on Sunday in Navan.
Mark McHugh, Michael Murphy, Neil McGee, Eamonn McGee and Karl Lacey have all been selected by the former All-Ireland winning Armagh manager.
Only one more county have had more players selected on the Ulster squad than Donegal and that is Tyrone who have seven players selected to take part in the series.
The popularity of the series has dwindled in recent years and the competition unfortunately doesn’t seem to have the same importance as it did years ago.
Crowds have voted with their feet in recent years and crowds have been incredibly sparse at the tournament over recent years.
Many have called for the competition to be axed, citing that the GAA fixture calendar is already conjested enough as it is without the Inter-Provincial tournament and that with a lack of interest it no longer serves any purpose.
However many players over recent years have said they love the series and reiterated that it’s still a great honour to represent your province.
The five Donegal players selected in the squad will be hoping they can force their way into Kernan’s starting line-up when they face off with the best Leinster has to offer at 2pm on Sunday in Navan.
