Donegal artist Gary McGarvey has unveiled a series of stunning screen prints depicting cities around the world.

Kincasslagh artist Gary McGarvey has unveiled a series of stunning screen prints depicting cities around the world.
Gary originally from Kincasslagh is now based in Liverpool and has designed prints for Elton John, The Pixies and Bjork.
Gary revealed the stunning collection ahead of jetting off to the Texas music industry festival South By South West.
The three-colour screen prints depict cities around the world that McGarvey has visited during his travels and draw inspiration from mountains of old photographs he collected along the way.
The former John Moores art student, has now lived in Liverpool for nine years and told the Liverpool Echo, “I started with the Liverpool print, trying to keep away from the obvious Beatles and football references.
“I chose places that I like in the city and that hopefully most people will associate with the city.
“These went down really well in the build up to Christmas so I thought I’d expand the series and have ended up with six cities to date.
“I’ll only do cities that I have either lived in or spent time in, I could just look up Google images and stick in a load of random old buildings, but this way, at least I know its still got a bit of me in there.
And such is the appeal of his series he is set to add a raft of others beginning with Austin in Texas, as he flies off there in March.
“I still have a number to add, its just finding the time!
“Top of the list is Austin, Texas, where I go each year to exhibit at SXSW, its an amazing place with a huge spirit and its somewhere Id love to live.
“The others on the list include Toronto, Hamburg, Paris and Dublin.
I also want to do a version of The Rosses, the area I’m from in Donegal, slightly cheating on the city theme, but I think it will fit in nicely as a contrast from the other.
