Letterkenny has been beaten in its quest to become Ireland’s first ‘Tourism Town’.
The Cathedral Town was one of ten named at the Tidy Towns Awards in an event organised by Failte Ireland.
Today it was revealed the title has gone to Portmagee in County Kerry.
Portmagee receives a €10,000 grant towards developing itself as a tourism destination.
A spokesperson for Letterkenny Chamber said it was an achievement in itself being named in the top ten towns in the country.
