The official launch takes place today of the Donegal Diaspora website.
The launch will take place at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny and will be performed by Mayor of Donegal, Cllr Frank McBrearty
The Donegal Diaspora Project has been set up to reach out and engage with Donegal’s global community, its “Pobal Domhanda.”
This network, from Boston to Bombay and from Ardee to the Antarctic, is made up of people with a connection to Donegal, no matter where they may be living.
And the website, www.donegaldispora.ie is a gateway into all that is happening in Donegal
County Manager Seamus Neely said the website is a means of our reaching out to and connecting with our broad Donegal Diaspora in all parts of the world.
“The Donegal Diaspora Project has been established to reach out to this broad community for mutual benefit. Our Donegal County Strategy defines our Donegal Community as comprising not only of those who live in the county, but also those who have a connection to or interest in Donegal, no matter where in the world they may be living.
“This Donegal global community, our “Pobal Domhanda” is made up of people who have left the country in recent times, of descendants of those who have left over past decades and centuries and of those who have developed an interest in the county for one reason or another. I trust that you will find this website to be useful and informative and that it will provide you with a link to County Donegal,” he said.
