ERIN AND SHANNONINNOCENT TEENAGE GIRLS are still being bullied in the town where two girls died.

Erin Gallagher, 13, and her sister Shannon, who was 15, died six weeks apart last year.

Both girls were from Ballybofey and were students at Finn Valley College.

Erin died in October amid allegations she was being bullied online. Her sister took her own life six weeks later.

Now it has emerged that Shannon had attempted to take her own life just a week before Erin’s death.

Garda sources have told Donegal Daily that Shannon’s attempted suicide just five days before her sister’s death would have had a profound effect on Erin.

It has also emerged that three young girls who Erin believed were bullying her on Ask.Fm weren’t online at all and that bullies who did torment her were happy to blame them instead. Those bullies have never been identified.

Those girls have been wrongly blamed for picking on Erin in recent months and they have been taunted ever since – even though they are innocent.

They have been verbally abused at school and in the street after school.

This has upset the Gallagher family as well as the families of the innocent girls.

“Things are getting out of hand,” said one source.

“Young girls are now being bullied and abused by other girls who should know better. This is the last thing Erin or Shannon would have wanted.”

It’s reported that Gardai are probing the actions of at least 10 girls who have been involved in bullying in recent weeks.
