Independent Community Candidate in Letterkenny/Milford, Peter Cutliffe has hit out at the current FG/Labour government government for “going to ground” on the forthcoming water charges.
Cutliffe told Donegal Daily, “Recent reports suggest an average water-bill for a house will be over €300 per year next year ,with a standing -charge in each house of €100.
“People should be asking their FG/Labour representatives and canvassers what is their position in relation to water-charges.
“I understand that a large percentage of the Property-Tax people are being forced to pay for “local services” that has been pumped into the setting up of Irish Water and more “jobs for the boys, added Cutliffe.
“These charges coupled with the ridiculous fees being proposed by FG Minister for Health, James Reilly for Universal Health Insurance in the region of €1,000 per person will simply drive people over the edge, concluded Cutliffe.
