Independent local election candidate, John O’Donnell is calling on Donegal County Council to seek immediate funding to upgrade Bunlin Bridge in Milford.

Independent candidate John O’Donnell has urged the council to seek funding to upgrade Bunlin Bridge in Milford.
Having inspected the site earlier this week, O’Donnell told Donegal Daily, “Sections of the bridge are crumbling and both parapets have been significantly damaged by vehicle impacts, with a section of one parapet missing completely.
O’Donnell added, “In its current state, the bridge is a safety hazard. While the road on either side was widened, the bridge itself remains too narrow for two cars to meet head on.
“This is unacceptable for a bridge that carries traffic volumes in the region of approximately 2,500 vehicles per day.
O’Donnell concluded, “I want to see a new bridge built, but in the interim, I’m requesting additional safety measures be implemented as there is still evidence that the parapets are being hit by vehicles.
