Cockhill Res 0-4 QPS

The home side set up in a defensive strategy allowing QPS to dominate possession but they restricted them superbly in the first half. The point had an early chance on 6 minutes after Fergal Buchanan crossed for Adam Harkin whose close range header crashed off the bar. Their next chance did not arrive until the 37th minute when Simon Wallace saw his effort brilliantly saved by fifteen year old keeper Lee McCarron who was outstanding throughout. The game followed a similar pattern on the restart but the visitors broke the deadlock on 62 minutes after good work between Paul Hegarty and Buchanan released Mark Wallace to fire low past McCarron from twelve yards. Cockhill hit back and were unlucky six minutes later after Adam Duffy fed Ricky Fullerton to advance on the right and his angled shot crashed back off the post. The visitors increased their lead then on 72 minutes when more good work in midfield ended with Harkin releasing Wallace and he fired home from inside the area. They sealed the tie ten minutes later when Buchanan converted from close range at the near post after Harkin’s had found him with his cross. They completed the scoring on 89 minutes when Buchanan turned provider and crossed for Harkin to head home.

Clonmany Res 0-4 Rasheney FC

There was no upset in this local derby played in wet conditions at Shamrock Park. The home side were first to show on 8 minutes when Dean Kelly sidestepped a defender and unleashed a twenty yards effort which was well saved by Johnathan Noone. A while later Kelly controlled and advance before releasing Aiden Doherty but he miscued his shot when well placed.Rasheney responded before the half hour with Donal Kelly only denied by a superb Martin Kelly tackle before Christy Ivers saw his free sail just over the bar.On 34 minutes John McLaughlin saw his shot from the left hand side of the area superbly tipped round the post by Roger McGilloway. But Rasheney opened the scoring from the corner when Peter Doherty flicked the ball home at the near post.Clonmany had the last chance of the first half when Kelly again beat a defender and fed Aiden Doherty who fired wide from a good position.Rasheney got a dream start to the second half when on 47 minutes Ivers broke clear and advanced along the byeline before squaring for Anthony Doherty (IE) to fire home from ten yards. They made it three nil on the hour to kill the game as a contest when Ivers pounced on defence confusion to slam the ball to the roof of the net..The visitors completed the scoring when John Mclaughlin rounded two defenders before firing a superb effort to the top corner

Culdaff Res 1-3 Dunree United

Played in wet and windy conditions Dunree with the elements were on top for the opening period but found it hard to create any clear chances.Their first attempt arrived on 18 minutes when Philip McGuinness’s twenty yards effort was easily saved by Stephen Gray.Ten minutes later McGuinness’s cross was flicked on by Conor Mcbride to Thomas Mulhern but from a tight angle he fired high and well wide. They broke the deadlock on 37 minutes after a McGuinness free from the right was not cleared and James Doherty controlled before firing home from close range.Culdaff replied before the interval when Ryan Greene released Michael Mclaughlin on the right and he got his shot away under pressure but Paul McGettigan saved. On the resumption McBride headed wide at the near post following a corner while at the other end Paddy McColgan volleyed just past the left hand post from sixteen yards.A driven corner from McColgan in the 54th minute saw Martin McGrenaghan bundle the ball home at the back post to get the home side back on terms. But two minutes of madeness sealed the game when Gray failed to hold McGuinness free kicks twice allowing James Doherty and Neil J McCarron to bundle the ball home from close range.Culdaff to their credit kept battling and Michael McLaughlin had an effort saved before McGettigan made a brilliant save from a Barry Fitzpatrick free.In the closing stages McGrenaghan failed to direct his header on target from a corner as Dunree advanced.
