GAELIC GAMES: NAOMH COLMCILLE CLUB NEWS

NAOMH COLMCILLE GAAThe Naomh Colmcille AGM took place on Sunday 10th February. The following officers were elected for 2013: Paul Callaghan (Chairperson), Barry McDaid (Vice-Chairperson), Alison Ferry (Secretary), TBD (Assistant Secretary), Leo Devenney, Darina Friel (Joint Treasurers), Sharon Monaghan (Registrar), Adrian Marsh (PRO). Committee Kieran Friel, Peter Barr, James McGrath, Breda Friel, Julie Clarke, Stephen Davenport, James Dowds, William Toye. Minor Board Gerard McFadden (Chairperson), Dennis Kennedy (Secretary).

 

The Sam Maguire cup was a very welcome visitor to Newtown during the week, visiting the Naomh Colmcille clubhouse, local schools, pubs and businesses while it was in the area.

 

The senior panel’s fitness program continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Motiv8 gym in Letterkenny at 8:00 pm. Bring €5 for the session. Training continues at Pairc Colmcille on Saturdays at 12 noon.

 

Minor training on Tuesday at 12:00 noon.

 

A dental technician will be at the clubhouse on Saturday 16th February at 11 to take moulds for mouthguards (priced £25 each). The use of mouthguards for all underage players will be compulsory from this year onwards, and for all ages (including seniors) from next year. The club’s ‘football for fun’ program continues on Fridays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on the astro turf; €2 per child. The program will be for 6-12 year olds.

 

A poker night is being held at the clubhouse on the 23rd February. More details from Leo Devenney.

 

Registrations for 2013 are now available from Sharon Monaghan (registrar) – senior player €50, non-playing member €20, junior member €10, family membership €50. Registration will be taken at the AGM. Registrations will only be taken up to 25th March 2013.

 

A Night at the Races is being organised; more details to follow.

 

Copies of the Donegal yearbook (€10 each) are now available from Catherine Clarke.

The club is again registered for the Sainsbury’s Active Kids scheme so please start collecting the vouchers on behalf of the club.

Naomh Colmcille’s Weekly Lotto: The numbers drawn were 6, 12, 21, 13, 17. The closest match was 4 numbers and the winners were Ernie Duncan and Ryan Kincaid who won €37.50 each. The Club would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support of the Lotto as it gives the club the essential means of continuing to give our local kids and adults the chance to avail of a great and healthy pastime.
