MORE THAN 100 family and friends are getting ready to make the journey from Lettermacaward to Wembley to support Carl McHugh this Sunday.
The Bradford City player – whose side take on Swansea in the Capital One League Cup final – says he has already sent 111 tickets home to Donegal!
“It’s a big number, but it’s not just family,” said Carl.
“There are some friends too. My mum and dad have sorted it all out and people have just given the money to them, so at least I haven’t had to pay for them. That would be about a year’s wages for me!
“The majority are from Donegal and there are a few others from around the country, who I’ve played football with down the years.
“It’s great for everyone to come over. I tried my best to make sure that anyone who wants to go could buy a ticket.”
“All the people there are really looking forward to it. From what my family are saying about it, there has been a lot of hype about the final. That’s great and it gives the whole place a lift.”
The 20-year-old says that he always dreamed of playing at Croke Park – but never Wembley.
“I played Gaelic football and that was my main sport until I was about 11 or 12,” McHugh said.
“Gaelic is my first love, but I stopped completely just before I went to Reading.
“I used to dream of playing in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park, but I think playing in a cup final at Wembley could be better.”
