She told Donegal Daily: “I proposed a counter motion against the St Patricks Day trip, because I believe nothing has changed since the trip was voted against in 2010.
“Sinn Fein have continuously asked that an itinerary and value for money audit be done on these trips, as of yet these reports have not come in front of Council.
“It is not possible to take an informed decision on spending money on these trips unless there is evidence of value for money and a detailed itinerary is put in front of Council.
“My motion against this trip was seconded by Cllr John Campbell, all other parties and independents voted in favour of the trip. The decision taken by Donegal County Council yesterday will again lead to public distress, in a county where we are at the top of the wrong league tables in terms of deprivation, poverty and disposable income levels, the decision to spend public money on trip such as this without proper evaluation is simply wrong.”
