Intermediate Championship – Group 1
CLG BnaG v Buncrana
Moyle Park, Saturday 27th @ 6pm
The Intermediate Championship begins this Saturday with Na Galloglaigh taking on Buncrana in their opening group match.
The other two teams the lads have to play are Naomh Columba away and Carndonagh at home. Na Galloglaigh have defeated Buncrana home and away this year in the league but the Championship is always a different ball game, therefore all support would be greatly appreciated. Throw in for the Reserve match is 4.30pm
*All Ireland Junior Sevens*
Hard luck to our lads as they bowed out of the All Ireland Junior Sevens at the last 16 stage to a very strong Valentia Young Islanders side from Kerry on Saturday. The boys played well in this game and were unfortunate two goal chances either side of the half didn’t end up in the back of the net, would have been a completely different game. The lads did themselves proud and the Club would like to thank them for the effort, the coaches, and the large crowd of supporters who came out to get behind the lads. The boys won 2 of their 3 Group 1 games to finish second behind Twomilehouse of Kildare which meant they played top team of Group 2 in the Cup which meant the clash with the men from the Kingdom. The lads got off to a great start to the group and gave probably their best performance against Buttevant of Cork to run 2-1 to 0-1 winners in their first game, the score line not reflecting Na Galloglaighs dominance. Next up they played last years All Ireland Junior Champions Twomilehouse of Kildare, who proved to be the better side and ran out convincing 4-4 to 0-1 winners. After a cagey first half against the hosts St Judes of Dublin in their final group game they blew them away in the second half, conceding a goal last kick of the game 0-7 to 1-2.The Club would like to thank the at Jude’s Club for their hospitality and commend them on a well organised event today, it was still great craic despite the result. Team: Caolan McGettigan, Cathal McGettigan, Luke Barrett, Kane Barrett, Pauric Curley, David Curley, Jonny Logue, Joey Cullen, Paddy Peoples, Christopher Barrett
