A charity event in aid of efforts to help the Dooher family in Lifford has raised a staggering €10,000.

The event, held last Saturday in the Railway Gym, saw more than 100 people take part in a spin session.

All the money raised from the event will go directly towards the Charles Dooher Fund.

Young Charles was the victim of a brutal attack at his home at Coneyburrow recently and is still fighting for his life at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

One of the co-organisers of the event, local man Keith ‘Bear’ Gamble, said they were proud to be connected with the event.

“Charles and his girlfriend Charlotte are members of the gym and they are both the nicest people you could meet.

“We just thought we would do something to help and to let them know they are in our thoughts.

“The Doohers cannot work at the moment as they are spending every minute with Charles and this is simply a little something to support them.

“People have been fantastic with people just coming off the street, doing their spin and dropping in a donation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Doohers and we are all wishing Charles a full recovery,” said Keith.
