Ireland has provisionally recorded its highest-ever temperature for the month of April, with a toasty 25.9°C observed in Galway yesterday afternoon.
The reading, taken at the Athenry weather station on Wednesday, April 30th, sets a new national record for the month.
The new figure narrowly overtakes the record set in Donegal over four decades ago.
The previous national highest temperature for April was 25.8°C, recorded on 26th April, 1984, at the weather station in Glenties.
Today will remain warm – but not as sweltering as Wednesday. We’ll see highs of 13 to 17 degrees and a sharp dip overnight with temperatures dropping to 3 to 8 degrees.
The outlook for the Bank Holiday weekend is dry, mild and good spells of sunshine.
