A woman aged in her 70s has died following a sudden house fire overnight.
The incident took place at a house on Wolfe Tone Street in Limerick in the early hours of this morning.
Members of the emergency services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised.
During a search of the premises, the body of the woman was discovered by first responders.
She was pronounced dead at the scence.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination, and Gardaí have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
