LAST year it was threatened with closure – now St Joseph’s Community Hospital is being forced to close 15 of its 75 beds due to lack of staff.
The hospital was saved from closure, but may have top operate with reduced funding in 2013, HSE sources have told Donegal Daily.
The loss of another 15 beds brings to 25 the number axed at the nursing home facility since 2011.
Pearse Doherty TD has been examining the HSE proposals.
He says the 20% cut in beds is despite a 20% increase in admissions.
“The HSE recruitment ban has led to these plans,” said Deputy Doherty today.
“This is yet another attack on frontline services.”
