Donegal’s All Ireland winning goalkeeper and All star Paul Durcan is set to make his 100th appearance for Donegal this weekend.    Paul Durcan with Jim McGuinness

Durcan will take his place in goals for Sunday’s National league clash against Tyrone at Healy park in Omagh. Durcan becomes the 5th member of this current Donegal squad to reach the 100 mark in the last year.

Karl Lacey, Eamonn McGee, Neil McGee, and Neil Gallagher have all joined the exclusive club in the last year.

Durcan admitted that reaching such a landmark was extremely satisfying and a nice personal achievement to reach, and also alluded to the fact that it was good that so many of the squad have reached the 100 appearance mark.

“It’s nice to reach that number of appearances for your county. It shows you have been performing at a consistent level to make that number of appearances. It’s always a great honour to pull on the Donegal jersey so to do it for the 100th time will be very special indeed.”

“I’m the fifth player in the last year to reach this milestone and it’s good to see so much experience there. There is a core of us now that have been around and together for a very long time and thats a good thing for the rest of the squad. It’s important to have good blend of experience and youth”

Donegal will be hoping to gain a psychological advantage ahead of Tyrone when the pair clash this Sunday ahead of there Ulster Championship showdown in Ballybofey on May the 26th.
