RNLIDonegal Town RNLI is appealing for people to attend a special information evening next Wednesday in the Abbey Hotel to hear first- hand from RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew about the work the charity does in saving lives around the Donegal coastline and the support they need to continue their work.

The Donegal Town RNLI branch is a small but active voluntary fundraising group who provide vital support for Donegal’s three lifeboat stations at Bundoran, Arranmore and Lough Swilly.

Last year Donegal RNLI lifeboats rescued 67 people and overall in Ireland RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews based at 44 lifeboats stations rescued 907 people.

The charity’s volunteer lifeboat crews receive the very best in training and equipment but never know what they will face on a callout.

They operate in some of the most challenging sea and weather conditions, often in complete darkness, to save lives.

Donegal Town RNLI PRO Paul O’Sullivan said: “The RNLI relies on the generosity of the public to ensure that our county’s lifeboats can continue to launch and carry out their life-saving work.

“A little of people’s time goes a long way and the RNLI is a fantastic charity. We have a small but very effective branch in Donegal Town. We know our efforts do actually save lives but we need more help.”

The information evening is being held on Wed 13th March at 8pm in the Abbey Hotel. Members of Bundoran RNLI will be at the meeting and will speak on what it is like to be a volunteer crew member of an RNLI lifeboat.

All are welcome to attend.
