Fairies, gruffaloes, bears and wizards all descended on St. Mary’s National School, Castlefin on Friday, as the school officially opened their new school library.

The children dressed up as their favourite story characters, and enjoyed listening to renowned storyteller, Paula Scally.

The library is the end result of many months of hard work by St. Mary’s NS Parents Association, and will stand in time as a concrete and visible example of the fruits of their fundraising.

Delighted principal Eoghan Roarty took the opportunity to thank the Parents Association for providing the school with this wonderful new facility.

“The Parents Association have driven this project from the outset, and it will stand as a testament to all their endeavour,” he said.

He also thanked the many parents who had contributed books to the new library, and who had supported the Parents Association in their various fundraising activities.

“Teachers and pupils alike are delighted with our new school library. It is a great example of what can be achieved when the whole school community, pupils, teachers and parents work together,” said Mr Roarty.

“The money that you have contributed to the various fundraising events is making a real and positive contribution to the learning environment of the school.”
