Carr sistersTWO Donegal sisters have been reunited Down Under.

Like many other families from the county, the recession is throwing family members to the four corners of the globe.

But when Fiona Carr went to Australia, it was almost inevitable that her close sister Donna would go too….so she did a year later.

Fiona moved to Perth 18 months ago and has been working in the mining industry since.

Donna and her boyfriend James McDaid, from Drumacanoo, Churchill, decided a year later to depart for Austrailia to seek work.

James landed a job as a crane driver while Donna is teaching in a primary school.

“Donna always wanted to see what Austrailia was like and followed in the footsteps of her younger sister!” said 25-year-old Fiona.

Said Donna, who is 29: “It’s a great opportunity for any young people to come out and experience life and work and with loads of Irish people here makes it feel like home but at end of day home is home.

“There are days you want to go home, but you get up and get on with it.

“We’d like to say hello to our brother Ronan and our parents back home in Mountain top.”
