GAA NEWS: BUNCRANA CLUB NOTES

Clash of the Clubs: The organising committee would like to take this opportunity to thank the Plaza Ballroom, each of the event sponsors, the boxers and trainers who have given up there time so freely, and especially those of you who have attended to support the event on Saturday night in aid of the Illies Community Development and Buncrana GAA. We hope that you enjoyed the entertainment on show.

Congratulations: Congratulations to Lauryn Mulholland who came second in the All-Ireland Schools Talent Show at the Helix last weekend. Lauryn has already done herself and her family proud in the Ulster Scór finals, well done Lauryn.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Extravaganza: Buncrana GAA will be hosting our second annual Cultural Celebration throughout St. Patrick’s Day at the Scarvey. The day will start with football and hurling games for U12s on the pitches, followed by a cultural celebration for all the family with music, dance and drama and refreshments served between 5.00pm-7.00pm. Admission is free of charge and everyone is welcome. Our club members are also invited to take part in this years St. Patrick’s Day parade entry, which will be something different this year!

 

Annual Dinner Dance and Awards Ceremony: Buncrana GAA Annual Dinner Dance and Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday 30th March in the Inishowen Gateway. Tickets are priced at 25euro and are on sale now. Guest of honour will be our All-Ireland hero Ryan Bradley, and the Sam Maguire and Liam McCarthy cups will be in attendance. A great night is guaranteed!

 

Senior and Reserve Football: Training will continue each Tuesday and Friday at 7.30pm and on Sundays at 11.00am. All new and returning players who are over the age of 16 and wish to play in Division 2 this year are invited to attend.

Senior Ladies Football: Our Senior Ladies Footballers kickstart this years league campaign on Sunday at 12 midday when they will face Naomh Michael, Dunfanaghy at the Scarvey. All support is welcome, and don’t worry about the weather as our viewing area is open to all with tea and coffee available.

 

Girls Football: Girls football training is on Monday night at 7.00pm sharp. Open to all girls from the ages of 9 to 16 years of age. New players are also welcome. Please bring your own water bottle.

 

U8 Hurling: U8 Hurling will continue each Wednesday at 5.30-6.30pm in Crana College. Newcomers are always welcome to come along and learn the basic skills of Hurling in a fun, safe environment.

 

U8 Football: U8 Football will continue on Friday at 6.30pm, new members are always welcome.

 

U5 and U6 Gaelic Games: Under 5s and 6s sessions continues on Saturday mornings at 11.15am sharp in Crana College. The sessions are based on GAA Fundamentals; a Croke Park initiative based on European wide research aimed at bettering your child’s coordination (including hand eye) balance, agility and basic fitness in a fun filled environment. It is also an introduction into the basic skills of Gaelic games This is for children turning 5 or 6 years of age in 2013 and all are welcome.

 

U14 Football: Buncrana U14 Footballers had a good win in a hard fought challenge game against Letterkenny Gaels, in what was a good all round team performance. The outstanding players were the free scoring Keith McDonagh and midfielder Odhran Mullan. Other players to impress were Peter O’Neill, John Murphy and Jack Lynch. Training continues Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30pm.

 

Lotto: The winning numbers in the lotto draw, which took place on Tuesday 5th March in O’Flaherty’s Bar on the Main Street, are as follows: 4-9-10-12
