We held our Annual Dinner Dance on Friday night in the Mt. Errigal with special guests Bishop Phillip Boyce, Canon Stewart Wright, PJ McGowan, County Chairman Sean Dunnion, Mayor Dessie Larkin and Sam Maguire. On the night we honoured our All-Ireland winning players past and present with presentations made to Rory Kavanagh and Kevin Rafferty of miniature Sam Maguire Cups with momentos also presented to Charlie Mulgrew, Paul Carr, Eunan McIntyre, Peter McIntyre and Mark Crossan. Rory also scooped to Club Person of the Year award. Connie Maguire was the 2nd recipient of a Lifetime Dedication Award for the hard work he has put in to both St. Eunan’s and Donegal GAA for over 50 years as a player and administrator. The Seniors were presented with their League and Championship Winners medals by former Co. Chairman, PJ McGowan. Ross Wherity won the Senior Footballer Award with Peter Devine awarded the Young Player of the Year. Eimhear Bradley won Ladies Senior footballer and Sean McVeigh was named Senior Hurler of the Year for the 2nd year in a row and received an award in recognition of his Nicky Rackard All Star nomination. Enda Kelly was Reserve Player of the Year and Ciaran McIntyre won the Junior POTY award. Lauren O’Connell & Kaneshia McKinney were the Young Ladies Player winners and Francis Lennon won the Young Hurler of the Year prize. Cormac Goulding was the Cultural Award winner. Appreciation awards were presented to Adrian Shiels, Charlie Harvey and Mickey Mulhern.
The Minors got their League campaign underway on Sunday away to Buncrana and came away with a good, narrow 2-point win, next Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day they will be on the road again when they take on Cloughaneely at 12 noon in Falcarragh.
Tickets are still on sale for Lord of the Rings 4 – St. Eunan’s v Letterkenny Rugby Club this Friday night, March 15th in the Mt. Errigal Hotel. There are only a small number left and they will not be for sale at the door on the night, so if you need a ticket contact Paddy Mullen, Dermot Higgins or one of the boxers asap.
The Sunday Morning Football Academy commences on Sunday, April 7th at 11am with Registrations from 10:30am. The Hurling & Camogie Academy will begin on Friday, April 12th at 6:30pm.
All managers are reminded that their players must be registered asap. The club is adopting a zero tolerance policy towards unregistered players due to strict insurance guidelines and no player at any level will be permitted to take the field without being registered. Underage players and managers are reminded that mouth guards are now also compulsory to meet the insurance guidelines and that no players are permitted to play without them, this will be strictly enforced by referees so please remind your players to also have a spare mouthguard. These rules also apply to training sessions, be advised that allowing a player to train or play without a mouhtguard may leave you liable should there be an incident.
The Golf Classic has been pencilled in for Saturday, May 25th this year – the day before the Tyrone game so big interest is expected. If you are interested in helping or sponsoring please contact James Friel on 086-8255474.
