BY DARBY O’GILL: THEY were pipped on the line last year by a bunch of leprechauns in Co Cork.
But the little people of Co Donegal are set to rise up once again this Sunday – in a bid to land a world record!
For Glenties is once again going to try to beat Bandon in having the most people dressed as leprechauns and set a new Guinness Book of World Records feat.
If you have your costume from last year then you are all set to take part just register that you want to take part – count time is 1pm on St Patrick’s Day, this Sunday.
Bandon’s record is 1,263 – Glenties want to bring out 2,013 leprechauns or a new record and to mark The Gathering 2013.

A family fun filled day is planned this year with live music and refreshments being served in the waiting area and live entertainment on the street.
Organisers are also planning their own GLENTIES BOOK OF RECORDS which will take place on the day.
“This will be a great family day out so don’t miss out get yourself registered a.s.a.p. to ensure we put GLENTIES on the map as the holder of the Guinness Book of Records holder for the Largest Gathering of people dressed as Leprechauns in one place,” said Carmel.
You can also register in Keeney’s Bar on a Mon, Wed or Fri between 7pm and 9pm or on a Sat from 12 till 6pm. So please get yourselves registered to take part in this great fun day.
